UNICO VAN WASSENAER ROOM
One of the wards of the former military hospital was named after Unico van Wassenaer – former commander and also a composer and musician. He composed under a pseudonym. Van Wassenaer gave structure to the Balije. He was strict in his teachings and forbade the use of the “Hotel der Orde” for parties, balls or concerts. The hall has a special fourteenth-century oak arch construction from 1347. This former infirmary used to house the so-called “hopeless cases”. Now this bright room offers a special ambiance for dinners, parties and meetings.
